Kingdom Of God The idea of God as King is the basis and essence of the conception of the Kingdom of God. The Greek Aramaic and Hebrew nouns ordinarily translated ?Kingdom? all mean primarily ?Kingship? or ?sovereignty,? Though they are used also in the desired senses of ?reign? and ?realm?. The Old Testament speaks of God?s kingdom in the sense of his sovereign rule of the universe.
