Letter from Alfonzo Henderson to Afro-Americans

Abstract

This letter from ARIDO (Afro-American Resource Industrial Development Organization) president Alfonzo Henderson outlines the organization's program goals. As Henderson contends, the US government should pass a law requiring all persons to refer to African Americans as "Afro-Americans" and not "Negroes." Henderson also contends that ARIDO should buy land parcels to be utilized specifically for feeding, employing and supporting African Americans in all ways, and although Henderson consistently separates himself from the "American" group, he wants the US Federal government to finance the operation.
