[Page 1] M[artin] L[uther] King [Page 2] [Inserted Text on Top line: An Order For The Baptism of Adults] Hymn Scripture Meditation The candidate appearing before the Minister, He says, Hear the words of the Lord Jesus: All power is given unto me in Heaven and in earth. Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. The Minister, addressing the congregation, says: Dearly Beloved, the sacrament of baptism is the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace. It signifies the entrance into the new life on the fellowship of Jesus Christ our Lord. As you are baptized with water so may you also be baptized with the Holy Spirit. The essential condition of baptism [Page 3] is faith and the consecration of the believer; so we welcome you as you come hither to enter into this sacrament of cleansing, and divine fellowship, as commanded by our Lord for all believers. A Brief Prayer We give glory to thee, O,Lord God for the holy desire and purpose of this thy servant. Grant to him now and through all the days, time repentance and living faith. Baptism Minister:N___,do you believe [in?] the Lord Jesus Christ? Candidate: I do. Minister: Upon the profession of your faith, and in obedience to the command of the great Head of the church, I do now baptize you, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
