[Obverse] Schleiermacher (Original Sin) According to him there is a sinfulness already present in every man before he commits acts of sin, and coming from a source beyond his own individual existence. This sinfulness is not something of positive nature in itself, but a defect consisting in a total inability to bring the [Reverse] activities of one's nature under the control of the religious feeling.
