Celebrate the 47th Anniversary of "Bloody Sunday." Sunday, March 4, 2012 7am
The Voting Rights Campaign, which culminated on “Bloody Sunday,” is credited with educating millions of Americans about discrimination in voting, persuading President Johnson and congress to enact the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which lead to a dramatic increase in African American political empowerment.
Tour Highlights:
- Worship service in a historic church, in Selma, Alabama
- Pilgrimage to the memorial site marking the martyrdom of Mrs. Viola Gregg Liuzzo
- Re-enactment of the march Across the Edmund Pettis Bridge - Selma Bridge Jubilee
- Video on Dr. King’s leadership in the campaign and how it lead to the Voting Rights Act of 1965
Tour Cost: $35 per seat (Limited Seating)
Registration Deadline: February 29th or as long as seats are available
Tour will leave from in front of The King Center, 449 Auburn Ave, NE, Atlanta, GA, Sunday, March 4, 2012, 7:00 a.m., and return approximately 7:00 p.m. to The King Center.
