Media Requests
We accept
requests for interviews or written material on behalf of The King Center,
Mr. Dexter Scott King, Mrs. Coretta Scott King, Ms. Yolanda King, Mr.
Martin Luther King, III, and the Rev. Bernice A. King.
Requests from
representatives of media organizations may be faxed, emailed, or
mailed-but must be in writing---to Communications at the fax number
listed below. Please include the following information:
- Who
is being requested
- Subject Matter What is the topic of discussion for the
interview? What is the topic of the program or setting? Who else
will be participating in the program or providing a commentary.
It is helpful to receive actual or summarized questions with the
initial request.
- The Amount
of Time being requested.
- Deadline
By including a deadline for an answer, we may be able to determine
whether or not that deadline can be met from the start.
- Location
Includes physical location and setting. For example, in Atlanta
at WSB television studios, The King Center, etc.
- Live or Video/Audio recorded. Three
distinctions to note are: live broadcast, taped for later broadcast,
or live-to-tape.
- Additional Footage. Determines
whether Dr. King's Intellectual property (i.e. his image, speeches,
sermons, voice, footage etc.) will be used.
The normal
response time regarding non-breaking news requests is generally
two-weeks.
